Compton Castle
Journey stop off part two.
After a wonderful stay at a spa hotel, we battled on through some pretty treacherous rain which meant that our stop off was yet again, not far from our destination. We decided upon Compton Castle, which luckily was open due to it being Bank Holiday Monday, and the sun was shining. It was meant to be!
Little NT Addict was quite excited as I think this may be the first NT castle that we have visited. We completed the squirrel trail, which was really well thought out. Being parents to a 7 year old boy, we don't always get to give the properties the attention that they deserve. A good kids trail is always welcome, especially if it gives us adults a bit of an insight if we aren't able to read the guidebook! I'm glad to say that we learned lots this time ;)
There was so much history in this lovely castle, which is still the family home (how jealous?!) and as you can see, the garden is just gorgeous too!
