Newark Park

How come it is the end of May and this is my first NEW National Trust property of the year?! Seriously lady, get your act together! Something to do with a new job (more hours) and my photography work picking up, I think it was ;)

Anyway, annual family holiday = National Trust hopping, and this holiday was a crowd pleaser, I must say!!

Our first stop off was at Newark Park, Gloucestershire. It was the beginning of our holiday, a little stop off en route to our first destination and my golly it was glorious. It is a country house and garden with Tudor origins, which we love. We had a beautiful tour of the house, you must visit just for the views.

The gardens have much to offer, a steep walk takes you down to the once hidden summer house in front of the lovely pond. There are so many lovely places to explore here, and we would have if we had more time. But instead we opted for a swift ice cream and then to potter off to our hotel for some much needed R&R.

Eagle eyed Mr NT Addict spotted this little creature that, with the help of another NT member, we deduced to be a hummingbird hawk-moth. Quite a rare sighting by all accounts!
